Radiators
Shop our full range of radiators – designer, traditional, column, electric, vertical and horizontal styles, with fast UK delivery.
Radiators are the heart of any central heating system, and the right one balances heat output, size and style for the room it's in. Get it right and a room warms quickly and evenly; get it wrong and you're left with cold spots and wasted energy.
At BestHeating we stock thousands of radiators across every major type. From space-saving vertical and statement designer radiators to traditional column models and high-output panel radiators - in finishes ranging from classic white to anthracite, matt black and chrome, alongside a selection of coloured radiators to enhance any space - there are radiators to suit everything from small cloakrooms to large open-plan living spaces.
Types of radiator
Most radiators fall into a few families. Panel central heating radiators (convectors) are the everyday workhorse - robust and efficient, and available in single, double and triple-panel depths for higher output. Traditional column radiators use vertical columns for a classic look and a large heat-emitting surface. Designer radiators prioritise appearance alongside output, in vertical and horizontal forms. Electric radiators run independently of a wet heating system, ideal where pipework isn't practical.
Choosing by material
The material a radiator is made from affects how it heats and how it looks. Steel is the most common - strong, efficient and available in every style. Aluminium radiators are lighter and heat up and cool down quickly, which suits rooms used in short bursts. Cast iron radiators hold heat for longer and bring a period character that suits traditional homes. Each has its strengths - the right one depends on your room and how you use it.
How a radiator is sized
Every radiator lists its heat output in BTUs and watts. To heat a room properly, that output has to match the room's heat-loss requirement - driven by floor area, ceiling height, windows and external walls. Our BTU calculator works it out for you. Larger rooms, rooms with big windows and rooms on exterior walls need a higher BTU.
How to choose the right radiator
Choosing the right radiator comes down to three things - output, space and style -
- By heat output - find your room's BTU requirement with our calculator, then match it to a radiator's output figure. Undersize it and the room stays cold.
- By space - short on wall space? Vertical radiators use height instead of width. Plenty of wall to fill? Horizontal radiators are a better choice.
- By style - designer radiators for a modern statement, column radiators for a traditional or period look, panel radiators for an efficient, understated workhorse.
What size radiator do I need?
Start with your room, not the radiator. Measure the space and use our BTU calculator to find the output your room needs, then filter by that figure. It's the single most important step - a beautiful radiator that's undersized will never heat the room properly.
Which radiator type is right for my room?
For most living spaces, a panel or designer radiator gives the best balance of output and looks. For period homes, column radiators suit the style and can really enhance that vintage feel. For narrow walls and hallways, go vertical. For rooms with no practical pipework - extensions, conversions - choose an electric option instead.

At BestHeating, every radiator comes with free delivery on orders over £399, and is covered by a guarantee of up to 20 years depending on the range - so you're buying long-term reliability, not just a radiator. Whether you're replacing a single unit or fitting out a whole home, you're buying from a heating specialist with expert support - not a general retailer.
Frequently asked radiator questions
What's the most efficient type of radiator?
A radiator's efficiency depends more on correct sizing and control than on the type. A radiator matched to your room's BTU and fitted with a thermostatic valve runs more efficiently than an oversized one.
How long is the guarantee and what does it cover?
Our guarantees are free and vary by product and material — up to 20 years on designer steel and stainless steel radiators, and 10 years on aluminium, cast iron, chrome-plated and compact steel models. The guarantee covers faults caused by the materials or manufacturing of the product, starting from the date of delivery. It doesn't cover wear and tear, accidental or deliberate damage, or the cost of removing and refitting the product, and it applies to products installed in the UK. Full terms are on our BestHeating Guarantee page.
