What is the difference between cast iron, steel and aluminium radiators?

Somewhat obviously, each of these types of radiator are mainly constructed from contrasting materials, all of which offer their own unique advantages.

For instance, cast iron radiators will take longer to heat up than steel or aluminium radiators, but will also retain their heat for longer, remaining warm for long periods even after the central heating has been switched off.
