How cold is too cold for pets?

FAQ banner image

A range of factors can determine how cold is too cold for pets, such as their age, size, coat thickness and general wellness.

For smaller pets that are either very young or old, have a relatively thin coat, or are not well, it is wise not to leave them outside for too long if temperatures reach 32 degrees F or less.

Should temperatures descend to within the range of 20 degrees F, the prospects of hypothermia and frostbite are significantly enhanced for dogs in particular.
