How do electric heating elements work?

Electric heating elements include an electric current, which transmits via a ribbon, coil or wire and becomes very hot.

The electric element will convert the electrical energy it features into heat, which is then transported to the component it is attached to, be it an electric heated towel rail or an electric radiator.
