Hammering or banging noises are the most common sounds to emerge from faulty water pipes, caused typically when their pressure levels cause the water within them to clatter off the pipe walls or shut-off valve. Usually, the noises will occur when taps or alternate water supply devices are switched off.
In addition to hammering sounds, water pipes can also let out whistling, squeaking and vibrating noises for a variety of reasons related to how the pipes are working or not so, as may be the case.
