What are the two valves on a radiator for?

FAQ banner image

The two radiator valves on a radiator work in the same way as taps, affording the user control over the level of heat they emit.

One valve accounts for the amount of hot water that enters the radiator.

The other valve, referred to as the lockshield valve, balances the system by regulating how much heat the radiator gives off.
