Recycling and Disposal of Electricals

Our role as a company

As a member of the national Distributor Take-back Scheme (DTS), BestHeating is committed to providing customers who are purchasing new electrical items with the opportunity to recycle their unwanted electric goods free of charge.

In addition to BestHeating's support of WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) recycling, our company is also working to reduce its carbon footprint and last year invested in solar PV panels which are used to power our head office and warehouse facilities in Burnley.

Why is it important to recycle?

Many electrical and non-electrical items can either be repaired or recycled which helps save natural resources and better the environment.

Electrical equipment which is not recycled ends up in landfill, where hazardous substances can leak out, resulting in the contamination of water and soil. This can be harmful to wildlife and human health.

How do I know which electrical items to recycle?

As a reminder to recycle your electrical items, applicable goods now come with the following label.

Recycle

Please do not dispose of any electrical equipment including those marked with this symbol in your bin.

Recycling your old electricals

You can recycle your old electrical radiator free of charge at your local household waste recycling centre (HWRC). To find your nearest centre, visit the Recycle More website and type in your postcode.

Recycling your old radiators

You can also recycle non-electric radiators. Once disconnected, tip out the radiator to remove water and make it as light as possible to transport. Your local council can confirm whether your nearest HWRC will accept the radiator. Alternatively, it can be traded at a scrap metal yard or even resold online if it is in perfect working order.

Recycling and Disposal of old batteries

Our role as a company

Under the Waste Battery Regulations, BestHeating is now offering a take back scheme for all portable waste batteries.

Please return your waste batteries in person only to:

BestHeating,
Unit 1 & 2 Dawson Court,
Billington Road,
Burnley,
Lancashire,
BB11 5UB

Recycling your waste batteries

To find your nearest waste portable battery recycling facility visit www.recyclenow.com.

Alternatively, most supermarkets and shops that sell batteries will have collection bins for used batteries, and some town halls, libraries or schools may also set up collection points. End-users may find stores in their local area more accessible.
